Wildlife Judging

The Smith County 4-H Wildlife Judging program teaches youth about native species, their food sources and habitat, as well as how to properly manage habitat for wildlife. 4-H’ers learn to identify animals by their tracks and calls and gain a better understanding of our ecoregion.

Skills gained through this program would be especially helpful for youth interested in careers in wildlife and natural resources.

Practices usually begin in March with the Regional Contest held in May.

To participate or learn more about Wildlife Judging, please email Katie Martin at kclark54@utk.edu or call 615-735-2900.

Wildlife Judging is open to all Smith County 4-H’ers in 4th-12th grades.

The 2022 Smith County 4-H Wildlife Judging Team competed at the state level.
