Poultry Judging

The Smith County 4-H Poultry Judging program consists of evaluating a class of live birds, meat identification, carcass grading, and three classes where eggs are graded on quality. 4-H’ers learn critical thinking and teamwork while developing self confidence in their decision making skills. Senior High 4-H members must defend their placings by giving a set of oral reasons.

Practices usually begin in August with the Regional Contest held in September.

Poultry Judging is open to all 4-H’ers in 4th-12th grades.

This year, our first Poultry Judging Practice will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at 3:30 p.m. at the Smith County Ag Center.
